Hi all,
As I announced on the -devel list, we're now in Hard Freeze.
Please try to get all translation work completed and checked in ASAP. We may be releasing any day now. :-)

IMHO "any day now" is too soon. Can we have one more week for translations? We also need to check for unlocalizable strings...

Is it possible to make some strings not to merge into same msgid?
For example, in russian translation of "Align and distribite" dialog combobox items should be used in genitive case, but e.g. "Selection" is used in several places more, and there it's always is in nominative case.
I wonder if other translators have such issues. At least translators into German might need such fixes as well, since suffixes in German substantives are case (especially genitive and dative) sensitive too.
Sure, I can make a workaround, but I'm not sure that other translators can.

IIRC, there is a capability to put contextual information into the strings, to help clue in what tense, gender, etc. should be used.
It would definitely be good to summarize where these issues exist in the interface, and work towards resolving in the 0.45 development cycle.

Yes, it looks like a week is doable. In speaking with Aaron today, it looks like there is at least a week's worth of work remaining before release.

Just to clarify... The decision about how long hard freeze lasts is in Aaron and Jon's hands; as the Release Wardens, it is really up to them how much time will be available for doing translations.
Jon, can you give an official word on the available timeframe for translations?

Wow... /me is just finishing his translation.
Do we have already the public announce somewhere? I'd like to translate it in Italian and forward it to Italian press (as i did for .43).
Maybe we can coordinate to reach as much local press as possible (at least for our most active translations)...
Bryce
Cheers, Luca
P.S. Who should I contact as official Inkscape's PR?

Okay, maybe more like any day after about another week. ;-) But, we're close...

Ah, good point. No we do not, but I will write one shortly.

Agreed. I will be sure to post a URL here when I have my first draft, so that others can begin translating.

Jon Phillips has been our official PR guy, but since he's been fairly busy recently, I will be filling in there a bit, so if you have questions/etc. let me know.
