Is everyone okay with showing just the translators for the current language, though (which would mean none, for English)?

actually I've used the "translator_credits" option in other projects to show not only the last translator, but also the ones before me. For example in ggv (from GNOME 2.8):

#: src/ggv-window.c:544 msgid "translator_credits" msgstr "" "Lucas 'Basurero' Vieites <basurero@...112...>, 2002-2003\n" "Sun G11n <gnome_int_l10n@...113...>, 2002\n" "Daniel M. Germán <dmg@...114...>, 2000\n" "Pablo Saratxaga <pablo@...115...>, 1999-2000"

This will show a small list of the latest translators which can be recovered from the po file's header.
