where is this string in practice (from /share/extensions/gimp_xcf.inx)
I like to know where (or how) can I see these string in practice:
#: ../share/extensions/gimp_xcf.inx:3 msgid "GIMP XCF"
#: ../share/extensions/gimp_xcf.inx:9 msgid "Save Guides"
...
Obviously it belongs to an extension, but which one ? There is nothing GIMP-related in extensions list – at least not in their names.

It's in the dialog you will get when you do File > Save as ... : Gimp XCF.

I initially suspected it might be there, but in the "Save As..." dialog there is no such thing as GIMP XCF. The only thing GIMP related there is "GIMP Palette (*.gpl)", but this one brings no other option for saving.
At least this is on Windows (64bit) version.

You need to have GIMP installed and available on PATH for the export format to show up (it's implemented as an extension).

GIMP is already installed, now I specified its physical path (C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\bin) into Windows system path (and then rebooted the system). I also specified the complete GIMP executable path in Ikscape preferences / imported images / bitmap editor. Still no GIMP comes up under Saving as... option.
Where else should I path it ?

Hi Cristi,
sounds to me as if you did everything correctly. Maybe it's some naming difference between what Inkscape looks for and what you have there...
Perhaps it's best you try to catch Patrick in the chat (he's @ede123 there) to figure out the issue more interactively.
Also check your extension errors log file in the preferences directory, it might give you some indication about what Inkscape is looking for (and where).
