Inkscape Program: String Freeze
Dear Inkscape Program Translators,
a few days ago, Bryce sent the following to the development mailing list, and I think the 'translation' part is probably of interest to you.

Another pre-release is now available for testing from the source downloads page:
https://inkscape.org/en/download/source/
The release is:
0.92pre1 Source Tarball Bzip https://inkscape.org/en/gallery/item/9633/inkscape-0.92pre1.tar.bz2
This is an early preview of our upcoming release and as such can be expected to have some stability issues or incomplete features. See Inkscape's bug tracker for a list of known issues.
== Translation ==
We are now in String Freeze. All translators should strive to bring the language files up to date.
Please aim to get all translation work committed by mid-June.
== Packaging ==
Packagers for Linux, Windows, and OSX should use this source tarball for creating packages for their respective platforms. I strongly urge all packagers to test their packaging scripts at this time and generate packages for pre1. Please report to this thread with your status in getting the packages made, so I can identify where help is needed.
Note that this was produced using the new cmake system, and the autoconfig build files are not included in this dist; if you require the autoconfig system for your platform you can still generate an autoconfig tarball from our VCS trunk, however you should prioritize shifting to cmake as we will be dropping autoconfig in the future 0.93 release.
I plan to continue post further pre-releases on a roughly 1-2 week cadence until we feel the codebase is stable enough for the final release, which would be late June at the earliest.
== About Screen ==
Hopefully a contest for the about screen should start up soonish?
In the interim, and as a contingency in case it doesn't happen, could someone modify the 0.91 about screen to say 0.92pre?
Thanks, Bryce

Is there someone who will deal with the French translation? (Is there a place where it's indicated?) Or should I hurry to involve?

Not really... So I've just updated the stat file for the trunk in inkscape-docs-export-website, rev. 20. Thanks for the reminder.
Do we need to ask Martin to pull some newer info from your repo?
I thought the process was automatic, but if not, yes, Martin can pull some info updated today.
Thanks! -- Nicolas
This statistics page is so beautiful! Kudos to the dev who made it real.
Soon will try to give the app some help on the pt_BR language!
Cheers.

Hi Bryce,
The website admin doesn't appear to have the time to update the page currently, unfortunately.
Until the page is pulled regularly from that repo to our website again, you can look it up in the inkscape-docs-export repo, which jazzynico is now updating regularly:
https://code.launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/inkscape-docs-export-website/trunk
or directly: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/inkscape-docs-export-website/trunk...
The page for 0.91.1 is: https://inkscape.org/en/doc/devel/translations-statistics-091.html
or most current (I think there won't be a difference): http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/inkscape-docs-export-website/trunk...
As a translator, I find there are a lot of new strings that are very difficult to understand and translate in the recent po files, and as the features are not (well) documented, the only option that remains is trying them out.
I did, of course, and would have anyway, but some options just didn't make any difference for my test cases.
Could a more extensive documentation of new features become a part of the commit process? And more descriptive hover texts?... That would ease the translation process a lot. A few "translators" comments could help, too.
What I think I'll be doing, to be able to help create an understandable translation (are there really only 10 days left?), is to make screenshots, and ask the corresponding dev to explain the options that are not self-explanatory - although I know that's probably a bit annoying for someone who's busy right now with release blocker fixing. I'll share the responses on this mailing list, so at least the questions will only be asked once.
Regards, Maren
