Shield data has gone far away again
Hi Martin,
Again, the shield is empty on all versions of the homepage.
Process: * I told Duarte to translate the shield to Portuguese again. * (I think) he accessed the homepage by clicking on the logo at the top-left. So he switched from Portuguese to English, without noticing it. * He put his translations in the plugin on the English page. * He noticed the problem, so clicked on ‘Revert to Live’!! * Well, this is the end.
I took benefit from this by enriching our bug report to django-cms: https://github.com/divio/django-cms/issues/3599
Would you be able to restore the data, from a local instance maybe? Do you need me to provide some files? -- Sylvain
Hi Sylvain, hi translators,
Martin has asked us to take care of this, he's busy today.
We will need to restore the shield manually again.
I have done this for English, German and Russian now.
Sylvain, would you take French, Spanish and Korean?
Duarte, can you fill in Portuguese, maybe, when you find the time? (as long as English is back, it's all half as bad)
(as long as we don't hit 'Revert', we'll be safe)
The fastest way is to copy from English (at 'Front Body'), then delete the empty old one in the current language, then fill in the translations (for Sylvain and me by copying, for Duarte by translating).
Sorry for this mess, I hope together we can clear it up. Martin sounded as if he might like to have a look at the 'Revert' functionality, so there's hope for the future :)
Kind Regards, Maren

Yes. Means you'll deal with Brazilian, Chinese and Japanese?

Be careful this time — :).

This was my way too last time. Except this: I removed the plugin before, then copied from English.

I forgot some tips: it's a good opportunity to use the tiling feature of your window manager, and also middle-click copy-pasting with the X window system.

I don't have any data for them, was only able to replace by English. I thought we'd deal with those later :/
If you have any translated data, this could save Bob and Min some translation work - else, they might need to jump in, too, when they can.
Kind Regards, Maren
Thanks, Sylvain!

I should be able to take care of it later tonight. I'm already nervous not to screw up again, I'll be extra careful this time.
I manually saved the translated strings for Portuguese before the infamous revert , so I shouldn't have to translate again at least for Portuguese.
I'll report here once done.

I wish you'd rather enjoy your holidays than worry about the Inkscape website (I've had a bad conscience to ask for your help now, even). Hitting a bug is not fun, but worrying about it is even worse.
Thank you, Duarte, Regards, Maren

Phew, done! No hickups this time ...I hope!
Don't sweat it, I'm in a zen mood, and I'm a computer addict after all, I spend most of my nights at the computer anyway, so no worries.
Anyway, it's done, let me know if any trouble arises.

Oh, yes. Days spent far from my computer are very hard.
But you still have some translations to do on the website — :P —: * About > Trademark Policy * Community > Code of Conduct * Aprender > Animation * Contribuir > Promote * Desenvolver > About SVG
Picking the most important that is left. There are also missing translations in the PO file. And the Portuguese FAQ is outdated. Translations are also missing for the man page and the keys&mouse ref.
So maybe you're not addict enough actually. -- Sylvain
Yes, the Portuguese translation is admittedly incomplete yet.
About the FAQ I started translation before the big renovation, and still haven't found the courage to start over again;-). I also made a small incursion into the PO file but nothing significant yet. During the process I end up noticing that the Inkscape's UI Portuguese PO file is very incomplete and outdated, so I though that if I was gonna invest any time in translations might as well prioritize the application itself, which seems to be the main focus.
I also think it may helps keep things consistent if the UI is translated, so tutorials and FAQ referencing options in the application use the same nomenclature and guidelines.
I'll keep hacking at it as time permits, but I foresee busy times ahead, so I probably won't have time to make any deep advances for a few months, besides the occasional small edits or new pages. But I'll keep trying and always be here to keep stuff up to date and occasionally spoil some shield plugins :-)

Hi Sylvain,
There's no automated way to restore the data. We'll have to do it manually.
Maren's made a bug report for me to track the issue of pressing revert to live.

Too bad (it could be newly hacked, but is probably not useful enough). It's restored.

I'm not sure it's the same bug, but it's marked as a blocker for the next minor version of the CMS: https://github.com/divio/django-cms/issues/3599 So Divio might be willing to help. -- Sylvain
