Hi all,
after our discussions of the last weeks, I've started updating the translation wiki. -> A proposal for review, modifications, updates, remarks, completion can be found there : http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/TestPage
It is based on the current translation pages, with some added general informations.
If you feel OK with this, i will copy it over current Translation page of the wiki.
My main concerns up to now are : - split main translation page, status and contacts ? - obsfucate mails in contacts ? - i've mentionned last translators, but in the vast majority, translations are managed by teams or at least several contributors - needs (a lot of) additional content - needs a big review
regards,
matiphas

I am for a split. Status information would be better to have on separate page. It is "just" a statistics and makes the page too long.
- obsfucate mails in contacts ?
Yes, any spam prevention is good prevention. There can still be a message above and bellow the list of translations/translators to "send a mail to inkscape-translators list if you cannot contact latest translator of your language version"
- i've mentionned last translators, but in the vast majority,

Since there are no stats for translations of tutorials/documentation I suggest to append other translators to the corresponding language with a note(like "tutorials", "GUI",...) if it is known what they translated.

Tutorial translations - There is a step to send translated xml/docbook files to Bulia Byak, but he is no longer "responsible" for this, it is ScislaC(Joshua Andler) now. I do not know if ScislaC would like to be mentioned there as a person who is now "responsible" for that. Maybe better would be to replace the "Send the file to buliabyak at ..... , and I'll convert it to SVG and HTML and upload it to CVS and the web site." part with text telling translator to send the xml of tutorial to the patch tracker and assign it to him.
CVS -> SVN - any mention of CVS should be changed to SVN.
I wil try to recover my wiki login and help on this page.

As a general rule, it may be better to encourage people to send to the patch tracker instead of directly to ScislaC; this way, if the person responsible changes (or more than one person start to handle them), then the documentation does not need to be altered.

As for ScisclaC responsible of tutorials, I've updated it this afternoon.
Xavier Conde Rueda has also brought some very nice updates. Feel free to do the same.
I'll split the status and enrich it with - po status - tutorial status
I'll also add - a 'news on the web site' translation topic tonight, but will need some help to write about this process. - a verification step (msgfmt -cv yourtranslation.po + check-markup yourtranslation.po) in the po file process

Suggestion : simply indicate how to find name of last translator in the po files

Yes see my previous mail, i'll try to separate the pages and add different categories

That's what wikis are done for :)

I've updated how to translate web site part. There are some "weak" places in this part I have to reformulate or complete but it contains pretty all information (except required step of running publish_web.sh script) I know and that could be usefull.
