Deadline for translations for Inkscape 1.2
Hi all!
Marc is letting us know that you can submit your user interface translations for Inkscape 1.2 until Friday, May 13, 16:00 UTC (18:00 CEST).
So if you want to see your language listed here: https://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/Release_notes/1.2#Translations there's still some time to do so!
Thank you :)
Kind Regards Maren

Can you indicate (link) the correct .pot file for this version ? (so to avoid mistaken)
Thank you, Cristi
Hi Cristi,
an always up-to-date pot file for Inkscape 1.2.x is available from
https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/jobs/artifacts/1.2.x/download?job=tra...
(at least when the automatic build did not fail – right now, it's available. A couple days ago, it was still stuck on the version from April 20th, because Windows builds failed...)
Thank you! Maren

Now I see that I missed the translation of the upper part of welcome screen, the one that is somehow embedded in a .svg file. In the past I have done this for version 1.1, but I can't remember now how I get the template for it then.
Can you indicate the link for that one ?
Thank you, Cristi

This is on me. I took all the po files that were available last week and processed them into an svg. The svg file with all the translations is here: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/vectors/content/-/blob/master/screens/welcome/1.... and the export process uses the new export batch functionality to export selected (without backgrounds) to produce each of the languages.
This process is still tentative.
Best Regards, Martin Owens

If the text for this screen comes from the UI .po file, then why is not present for my language (Romanian) in the program release ? These strings were already translated in the .po file I sent before the translation deadline (in fact they were there since 1.1 already):
#. Not automatic, but will be turned into start-welcome-text.svg #: ../share/ui/inkscape-start.glade:1036 msgid "Welcome!" msgstr "Bun venit!"
#. Not automatic, but will be turned into start-welcome-text.svg #: ../share/ui/inkscape-start.glade:1042 msgid "Let's set up a few things..." msgstr "Să stabilim mai întâi unele lucruri..."
