You can use the Pen tool for most of this (though not all):

That's realy only good for when you actualy create the segments. After the fact it's not precise enough.
But any measure tool would work "after the fact", by clicking on some points in the drawing and measuring them. Is that not so?
A real world example i've had is a letter V and tweaking the hight of the right end of it. The 2 nodes have to be moved colinear to the sides of the right arm of the V to keep all angles the same.
Ah, that I added it long ago. Try dragging with Ctrl+Alt in Node tool.

A measure tool in the sense of what the GIMP has, yes. But for
precision and numerical entry (very important), you have to select
the actual nodes. That is, this should work from the node tool, not be
another tool. Select 2 nodes of 1 segment, read the distance (= lenght
in case of a straight line), see it's not what you want, enter desired
value ... that's the kind of workflow I'm about.
Actualy, wether the nodes are the ends of one segment or not isn't
important, linear distance could always be measured and changed
(moving the nodes in a colinear fashion). There should just be a
way to make one node stay in place or to move both by the same amount
(could be just likw with Align and Distribute).

Cool, thanks. One has to be carful, otherwise it jumps around, though.
