I was wondering since tutorials are severely lacking in Inkscape. Which program(s) (Illustrator, Coreldraw, ....) is Inkscape the most comparable to in terms of functionality. Because I seen where people have taken for instance Photoshop tutorials and replicated them in the Gimp. Which program's tutorials could best be done in Inkscape?
I'd say Corel Draw or Xara. I've a friend who used Corel Draw and Xara in the past and whenever I show him some new feature in Inkscape he tells me Corel has had a similar one for a long time.
Yeah, but Inkscape is imho by far easier to use (particularly shortcuts & bezier curves, which are *way* 'smoother' than what I personally experienced both with the free version of Xara Xtreme and CorelDRAW 7 (not sure about the current version). What I'm still missing in Inkscape are some features included in 'Canvas', particularly the great gradient editor. One can apply gradients to strokes, or even beveled strokes.
