Hi Ken,
It's likely that was a font which was installed on your older system after the fact. Inkscape does not come with fonts but uses the fonts already installed on your system.
You can get the Venus Rising font from dafont for free I think - download that and install, then restart Inkscape and you will probably have the font in the list of fonts then.

I am not sure if I am contacting the correct person but here is my inquiry. My desktop computer crashed. I purchased a lap and downloaded the latest version of Inkscape. My issue now is that the font, Venus Rising, which I have used for all of my logos and TM is not showing up in this latest version.
