Thanks for your reply. You understand what I am getting at, but Inkscape does not behave this way. If I create a star, the fill is yellow by default. If I then open this pallette and change the fill color to green, it changes the fill for that star to green, but when I create another star a moment later, the fill is once again yellow. I don't get it. Am I missing something or is there no way to set a default color?

Hello all. A couple of dumb questions (or maybe one two-part question). How do I change the default fill and stroke colors? In other words, right now if I use the "star" tool, the fill color is yellow. How do I change that. Same question on the strok color. I know the answer is probably very simple. I just can't find it. Thanks!
Using the fill and stroke color tool? On your toolbar, that's the one that resembles a "jewel". This tool has three tabs one for fill, the other two for strokes (color and width). By the next time you start working with Inkscape, the program should remember your last change and use it for the tool you are working with. Hope this was what you meant (as I understand stroke as what is called in spanish: trazo, or a line outlining a shape).
