You can use drag and drop between windows instead of copy and paste. You can do multiple-massive import of images in this way. Put the inkscape window under the file manager window, select files you want and drop into inkscape.

Just to clarify - this is from a *file* manager window to Inkscape, not one inkscape window to another.
