Sometimes I wonder if when you select such an object, you have to cast your selection net wide enough to catch your gradient markers as well as the object itself. I'll try that the next time I run into the problem.
But until then, the bug is not fised.

I don't have that problem. It works fine for me as long as I have the gradient box checked. Checking all 4 boxes does not negate the effect of the gradient box.
