Hi folks,
I've done some manual kerning in an Inkscape SVG document. When I view that document in Firefox or import it in Gimp, the kerning appears to be ignored. Is this a known issue? Sorry, I couldn't find anything on this.
Not sure in any case if this would be a bug in Inkscape or in the rendering application. Bitmap exports from Inkscape are fine.
Thanks much, Steve
Hi Steve,
I'm happy that Inkscape finally came out to be working fine.
When you open SVG in firefox, then it open SVG with 1.0 specification. Inkscape puts extra datas in SVG, that's why there is separate option to save your graphic -> Inkscape SVG or plain SVG.
If you wanna see how your graphic looks like in a browser or anywhere else, then save it in plain SVG (but make backup of course) and then reload it into Inkscape. Then you'll see what's missing.
So anyway if you wanna have a format that appears everywhere the same, i suggest you to use PNG.

Hi Andras,
I had tried that and it didn't work. I tried it again in 0.45.1 and still no luck.
A suggestion in a Gimp forum had me convert text to paths and that worked fine.
I do use png for graphics I export for use on the web.
Thanks again, Steve
