[Inkscape-user] outputting gradients

This bug http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=984043&grou... refers to a problem with outputting gradients to postscript. Is there any workaround for this problem? I'm trying to produce PDF output, and have been doing it by doing a Save As, followed by epstopdf.
