The roads you can do like this: * create pathes where the roads should be. * Choose a big outline size (so big the road should be). * Choose black as color for the outline. * Group all Lines. * Duplicate them. * Choose white as color for the duplicate. * Choose a lite smaller outline size for the duplicate.
You should now have a road like in the attached example file.
Later when Inkscape support Filters, there is an easier way of doing this. (without the duplicate step)
