I guess I don't understand a lot about programming, but doesn't the Mac version contain all the needed files in the .app bundle other than X-Windows. Can you see what to add by what is included in the Mac version? I thought that the Mac and Linux versions used similar libraries because they both used X-Windows. If the Linux version ships with support for editing PDFs like the Mac version does, I can afford to send $50 to Inkscape's Sourceforge account at the end of this month.
This PDF import is very important to me and many others. For this reason alone I can get people to use Inkscape and will allow me to switch to Linux for my next PC. Other than that the release offers nothing revolutionary for me and I will use it on the Mac instead of Linux if the Linux version can't edit PDFs.
