Hello all,
I had to make a world map that shows the sites of my employer. I
downloaded and modified the following file (thanks to the
wikipedia):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:BlankMap-World6.svg
I changed it to this, using Inkscape:
d:\kepek\WorldMap\SemilabWorldMap2c.svg
Now we would like to send it to the company who will print it to a
poster. They asked for eps or tiff.
(One would think that svg is supported by professionals, but it is
not. I tried to open it with Corel X3, but it messed all the arrows:
disaster.)
Ok, I felt safe, Inkscape has eps as saving format, anyway it is
used in the open source world usually, so let's try...
After a minute or so, I get the following error message:
File D:\kepek\WorldMap\SemilabWorldMap2c.eps could not be saved.
I tried to turn the original BlankMap-World6.svg to eps, it works
fine. I used the same settings for both:

What can be the problem? I have WinXP SP3, Inkscape 0.48.
Thank you in advance for any help.
Abel
ps. Despite I had bad experiences with Inkscape exporting to raster
format (positioning and coloring problems), I finally managed to
save the results to tiff with Gimp. But if the resolution is kept
good enough, the file is too big, and I would prefer keeping the
graphics in vector format, if possible.
