Anyone know how I can keep the process from stopping when it's only about 20% done? I have a PowerBook G4 with a 512MB RAM card (original equipment).
I tried upgrading the RAM to 1GB but that didn't work any better.
It should not hang and 512 MB should be OK for that. It would help to know what your file looks like in order to guess where the problem should be. Can you post it somewhere on the internet? (you cannot attach such a large file to an email to this list). In addition, which version of Inkscap are you using? on which operating system (Panther, Tiger)?
I want to eventually translate my Inkscape svg file into jpeg format so I can get the thing printed at imagestation.com.
Incidentally, if you want your work to be printed you should consider producing a PDF and not a JPEG, or at least keep the PNG INkscape produces instead of converting it to JPEG. JPEG is good for digital photographs and that's about it, for the rest, PNG is better (does not loose quality when compressing the image) and PDF is probably even more adapted since it is a vector format, like SVG.
