[Inkscape-user] Clipped objects to flat paths

Hi, mad question: I have a clip path in the shape of a puzzle piece. Inside that is a clone of a drawing (for the puzzle's actual picture). I have many puzzle clips - to make up the various pieces.

Is there any way to convert a single clip (one puzzle piece) into a flat group of paths - such that it dives inside and brings only those paths visible up to the 'root' level? So that there is no more clip and only the paths (stacked or grouped) of all the visible parts of the children of that clip are left.

I mean something like converting clip to a bitmap and then tracing it. But not doing that, because the trace is not as good as the vectors I started with.
