[Inkscape-user] Text to graphic?

A simple question (I think, I hope!).

Is it possible to do/make a text to graphic transformation in Inkscape? & if so... what command does one use? (I used to use Adobe Illustrator, & the command was basically, something like 'text to bitmap' (?)).
