My usual advice is to disable it in your window manager's keybindings (which will generally disable it for all applications)

*gasp* This is the single most useful feature I've ever had the misfortune of losing by going to mac or windows. How dare you, sir!

I had a text inside a box. You gave the key: the text actually was under the box. Since the box was using a transparent fill, it seemed it was above the box.
