Actually, the best app I found for viewing SVG files is Firefox. Use the File -> Open menu command to view files on your computer. It even displays SVG animation.
This brings up something rather important to me. I presume Inkscape is shooting for SVG 1.2 right now due to its inclusion of flowRoot stuff. Now, near as I can tell flowRoot is being deprecated. I can't get any other SVG program to load/render text I've flowed into a shape (I've tried Batik, Opera, Sketsa, Firefox (which is only gunning for 1.1 anyway)). Where is Inkscape headed with this?
Also, Firefox 3.0 is supposed to support text-on-path, but it doesn't render and text-on-path I've exported from Inkscape. Has anyone succeeded in getting this working and would be willing to give me pointers?
