Well, I think I have the same question. I'm running Inkscape .45 on windows. When I open view -> scripts it tells me that Python is not compiled:
# This is where you could type a script. # However, no scripting languages have been compiled # into Inkscape, so this window has no functionality. # When compiling Inkscape, run "configure" with # "--with-python" and/or "--with-perl".
But, I can run all the effects, so that would suggest Python *is* running. (Also because from the FAQ I read Python is shipped and installed with Inskcape from v .41)
In this script-window, under file, there is no "run" option.
Is there something I'm overlooking?
Also, is there somewhere out there on the itnernet a guide "writing Inkscape-extensions for dummies?", or should I just use http://www.ekips.org/comp/inkscape/extending.php ?
