I'm not sure if what you want to do is what I did with your image in the attached file. What I did was:
- With the node tool, selected the ending nodes of the "closing" stroke and
the last node of the "V" shape of the fan blade, then selected the "join ending nodes" button (first to the right of the add/delete node buttons in the toolbar) to join both segments to either side. Then brought up the stroke and fill window to change the fill color from colorless to red, leaving the stroke in black to illustrate. The "window"-like shape in dotted lines, I selected it and "erased" its fill and placed it at the top of the stack (selection tool and the right-most button just to the left of the coordinates entries). Hope this is what you wanted.
