[Inkscape-user] Scripting - retrieving rendered bounding box

Hi all,

is it possible to retrieve information about the rendered elements of a drawing via scripting Inkscape?

For example, to retrieve the bounding box of an element which has been scaled and traslated?

And is it possible to execute commands - like generating a shape which is the union of two shapes - via scripting Inlscape?
