Would it help to define a page border or limits that exactly wraps the entire drawing? My drawings are usually larger than the page limits. If so, it would be great to have such a checkbox when exporting to pdf or eps: create page border to fit drawing.

Turns out that was exactly it: if I make a white background rectangle, select it, then go to File - document properties and select "Fit page to selected", save a copy as PDF and include that, thenall problems are gone: pdf figures include just fine.

Again it would be great to have such an option in the eps export dialog, or in the PDF, to automate the process.
