Hello,
I was wondering whether it's possible to have objects "snap" to guidelines with their center rather than edges (the bounding box). I think this feature would come handy and wouldn't have to be difficult to implement (perhaps). Or maybe have the object snap with the center of rotation instead of center--even though this is probably not the cleanest idea.
Center snapping works, but only for ellipses. Of course it must work for any kind of object. Please file a RFE (if there's none already). I didn't have time to clean up the snapping mess in this release, but I plan to do this sometime. There are lots of problems with snapping currently.
On a similar note, it would also be nice, if the Align & Distribute dialog box could align object around "nearest" or selected guideline. I would, for example, like to have objects centered around their respective centers vertically, which is easy to do now, but how do I center these object around a guideline? But this a variation on the question in the paragraph above.
We don't have a concept of a selected guideline. On the other hand if selection is made able to snap its center, then it will be easy to center the objects, then snap their common center to the guideline.
