Any chance we could get confirmation that this works even if AppData
itself is hidden?

It appears to work on the two Windows boxes I have tested:

1) Windows XP Pro with the "Application Data" directory hidden, but "show hidden files and folders" enabled in Windows Explorer.

2) Windows 8.1 Pro with the default settings - i.e. the AppData directory hidden.

Not an exhaustive test, but the trend looks good ;)
