[Inkscape-user] Insert symbol from font file

Hi, I was wondering if there is some way to insert a symbol from a font into the document. I think it would be nice to have some sort of 'insert symbol' option with a window that let's you choose a font from those installed on the system or open a font file and presents you with the glyphs in that font. Then you select one (or even more) and it gets inserted in the document as a path. I would be really helpfull if you have some fonts with graphics.
