I'd go with circle tool, with a wide stroke and no fill. If you
need a
outline then get the width you want this way then do
path>stroke to
path on it.
This would get me a 2D ring, but I would like something more with
a
3D aspect, make a ring from an approximation of an empty cylinder
with
small heigh or something...
