I'm having problems opening .ai files in inkscape 0.38 :

Can't open -l: No such file or directory at /usr/local/lib/inkscape/extensions/ill2svg.pl line 52. Can't open mac: No such file or directory at /usr/local/lib/inkscape/extensions/ill2svg.pl line 52.

I've checked and this file does exist and have a 755 chmod, so it should be just fine.

One is not supposed to do so, and convert the files from the command line as Tuukka suggested for the new version of ill2svg ?

By the way, AI can save files in .svg . What is the exact purpose of this script then?
