There is a way of copying in Xfig that is really handy, and I wonder whether something similar is available in Inkscape.
In Xfig, you can click the copy Icon and then copy the original with the middle mouse button clicked to a position that is either perfectly horizontally or vertically aligned. This is handy if you want a copy of the original perfectly next or underneath the original.
In Inkscape I have to do this differently. I first copy and paste the object to a new location, and then I have to manually align it to its original using the alignment dialog. Of course that is not too hard, but in Xfig it is easier. Since this is an operation that I use often, I miss the Xfig way of copying.
Maybe it is possible in Inkscape, since there are so many handy key shortcuts I am not yet aware of. I looked this up in the Inkscape tutorials, but could not find it yet. Let me know if there is an easy way to do this.
Thanks.
