Joanne wrote that she didn't have the SVG file any more and the implication was that she only has a PNG. In that case Gimp, Paint Shop Pro or another raster editor is the only way forward.

If the image is still in a vector format, and if you can give us a link to the SVG file, we can tell you specifically how to do it. Covering it up with another object can come back to haunt you later, sometimes, depending on what might need to do with it in the future. If the image is no longer vector, you will probably need to use a raster editor (such as GIMP) to remove it.
