For a presentation, I really don't want extensive text editing; I mostly want to show some figures and images and diagrams. I mean, given my spelling ability, embedded spell-checking would be nice, but that's a total pony.
Same here. Any slides that I use when presenting are merely added support on top of what I say. The meat of the presentation is in my words, the charts, graphs and illustrations emphasize and clarify what I say.
Last time I did a presentation, I used Inkscape for it. I exported pngs and used firefox in full screen to progress through them. It would have been handy to have a constant background in all of them. As it was just for the UUG I attend, I just used a white background on them.
