[Inkscape-user] Adding Fonts

I am running Inkscape on both Windows XP and Debian Linux.

Is there a way to add fonts to the program? I couldn't see anything in the menus or help that discussed this. (Although I could have missed it.)

How do you add fonts to Inkscape under the two different systems, and what font types/formats are supported?
