We have a bug tracker at: http://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/ Although it's not necessarily a bad idea to also mail to the mailing list, you should make sure to always file your bug there, as that will prevent the bug from being forgotten. It could also be that someone else has had the same problem and that either the bug report contains information (like a work around) that's useful for you, or that you can add further information that could be useful to others (including further details on how to reproduce the bug).

The simplest and most obvious suggestion I can come up with right now is that you may want to try Inkscape 0.48.
