Honestly, I should cover myself in shame and acknowledge I am running
the stable version and can't comment on stability for devel :p

I think the current development version can be considered somewhere
between alpha and beta (we don't have formal alpha and beta releases),
but you should not worry about losing work: you can uninstall it and
reinstall the stable version if needed.

Note: I toyed a little with Blur Edge and is possible to do something
like the attached image (I know, not very good)
