Yes, I have the same experience.  On one hand, it sounds like you might be
opening Document Properties more often than necessary.  So we might be able to
help you with not having to open it so much.

But on the other hand, there might be preferences to help with that. I think
they are in in Edit menu > Inkscape Preferences > Interface > Windows, but I'm
not positive.

Unfortunately, I haven't found the right ones yet.  So I'll be interested to
learn the answer too!

I have inkscape 0.92 on windows 10 64 bit and the document properties window
opens way over to the right that only abut 1/4 of the window is visible and
have to drag it over to the left to use it.

is there a way to set where it opens or at least have it open on the screen so
