[Inkscape-user] "Fit page to selection", maintaining grid?

Hello! Is it possible to have the new "Fit Page To Selection" feature maintain the relative grid placement of the objects? I use inkscape exclusively for technical illustration and proper grid placement is really important for my diagrams.

At the moment (0.44) the grid seems to be anchored in the lower-left-hand corner of the page, and "fit page to selection" appears to move the bounding box of the selected items such that the bounding-box lower right corner is coincident with the page lower-right-corner, and then crop the excess page.

If there's some simple way of getting around this, I'd love to hear it. I've now made over 300 diagrams in inkscape, and it's just been a wonderful experience. Thanks! ...Eric
