It could also be something strange with the names of the files? Perhaps they are hidden from view by explorer? Or perhaps there are strange characters in the name that prevent them from showing up?  Try changing the "view" of the folder between "list" and "icon" display...?

Try also saving to a different directory like your desktop - i.e. is it all directories or just that one directory that is having an issue?

Thank you Jasper, that is a very good point, and I looked back and forth for
the files. It should be in a qgis weekly sub folder, and I searched for it
with the find function, and looked so often in the directory because I just
didn't want to believe what I saw (or better did not see). I did create some
other files and 2 of the files do show up, but not the one I am looking for.
I'll try to run chkdsk, it's just that otherwise the computer seems to run
fine.

If you also do not see the files in Explorer, are you absolutely 100% sure
that you're looking in the right directory? Especially under Windows the
various "User", "(My) Documents", "Public Documents", "My Pictures", etc.
directories can get a bit confusing at times. Also, if you indeed use
Windows, you may want to explicitly choose a directory for saving the files,
and avoid saving it in "Libraries" (in principle it should be fine to save
them there, but since they essentially aggregate files from different
directories it can be a bit confusing).
