I'm sure that can be made to work. You may need to configure it to pull its icons and other share/ content from that alternate location.

It gets those from a sub dir of the install anyway, so if its running off the usb key, it'll get em off the usb key. The only thing that would be good to be able to change is where the prefs are saved/read, as this will be ni the user directory by default. Having a way to make it keep them in share would be good, so they'd travel with you too. It works just fine of a usb key btw, its how I've used it at work for stuff.
