Thanks, Rob. It seems to be the Wacom tablet, something I didn't even 

think to mention. -Joe

I vaguely remember having this same problem on Linux with a Wacom a few months back. If I remember correctly deleting $HOME/.inkscape fixed things, it wasn't a driver problem.
