Ok, this is what I would do. Tweak the filter.
1 -- With the object selected, open Filters menu > Filter Editor 2 -- In the upper, right section of that dialog, click on Specular Lighting (if you have your dialogs docked, you might want to undock the Filter Editor, because it's a large dialog, and hard to use when docked) 3 -- In the lower section, click on that bar showing the white color 4 -- In that little color dialog, click on the Dropper tool button 5 -- Position the dropper tool over the green square and click once 6 -- Click OK in the little color dialog 7 -- You can experiment whether you like it better by positioning the dropper over different areas of the square. I would say, clicking just a little below and to the right of the white spot, might be the best, but you can experiment
You might want to duplicate the object before you start, so you can compare whether the new color you're choosing for the specular lighting is close enough to the original. Or you can always change the base color of the object, if you need to tweak the color a little, after tweaking the filter.
After you tweak the filter, locate, in the left section of the dialog, the specific Button filter which has the checkmark. Double-click on the word "Button" and change the name to something specific (such as "my button filter").
After that, click File menu > Clean up document. That will get rid of all those many Button filters that are in your file, but not being used. This isn't super important, but it's nice to keep a clean file :-)
Let me know if you have any problems.
All best, brynn

It will be imported as a PNG
It's going to be 10 x 10 of those squares, forming a grid for a puzzle game

Ok. That white spot is part of the Button filter that you used. Yes, you *could* cover it up with a green "patch". But there are many reasons why that could come back to bite you later, especially if this project is for some professional of commercial use.
Before I go on with some ideas, can you say anything about how this is going to be used? For example, will it need to be in SVG format in the end (like for SVG embedded in a webpage)? Or will it be exported to PNG, or saved in another format, such as PDF?
For the sake of discussion, in case anyone else wants to join in, a couple of things I'm thinking might work would be 1 - tweak the filter, or 2 - build the button in a different way, perhaps using other filters. Others may have other ideas, as well. But I always like to keep in mind the ultimate goal, because often it informs the artistic or creative process.
Once I know a little bit about that, I can give you the steps to take :-)
All best

Here is the link for the file
https://www.dropbox.com/s/79j3beuo4o54ytz/block.svg?dl=0
and I am using the 0.91 64 bit version.
I want to get rid of the white light spot at the left top. So thought I could copy paste a part over it..

Short answer to short question: Yes.
But I have a feeling that won't help you very much. We will either need to see the SVG file, or ask you many questions, until we have the info we need to explain how. The SVG file would be fastest and easiest. Also, please include your Inkscape version and operating system :-)
Or if you can't share the file or even screenshot, let us know, and we'll commence with Q and A.

I feel stupid.
If I have a part of a button that I created. Can I grab a piece from it, and copy/paste it ?
Thanks
