Well 2gb isnt that, much and it is likely that he/she has a bad(probably integrated) graphics card in their laptop.

Hello, I am posting on behalf of a friend who is stuck on Win7 pro (64 bit I think). He installed the latest Inkscape (as of about Jan 2011) and he cannot use it at all. His laptop is pretty powerful with min 2gigs of RAM; hell, it makes my desktop look like a block of wood!
It's very slow to draw, to drag around or zoom. There are no advanced filters, or anything complex, being used - even a blank file with a single line in it cannot be edited.
I am asking if there are any windows "tips" for using Inkscape? Is there some kind of "XP mode" or some advice re 64bit/32bit or maybe some graphic driver tips? Perhaps there are known clashes with other fancy windows software - like a colour enhancer (he has some kind of thing that makes his colours brighter on his laptop).
Anyone have a clue what I could suggest to him?
Thanks, \d
