[Inkscape-user] image import

HI is there a way to limit, or set, the size a image imports into inkscape (both 0.48 & 0.47)?

if a image is created in a graphics program at 300dpi and a size of 6" X 6" it seems to import into inkscape around the 22" X 22" size

is there a way to import at the 6" X 6" is was saved as? of course the size will change but is there a way to import at the size it was saved at or set a size to import to
