Can you upload an SVG with the image imported ?

You cannot change the resolution when importing a PNG. What you are changing is the dpi for exporting an image as a bitmap. This will play no role on importing it. Could you attach the image you wish you import?
Yeah, I read that it's for exporting mate. Maybe I confused you, that I was trying to shift the dpi of the imported img. I just stated it, 'cause the image I was trying to import was the one I exported from inkscape in the first place (thus my mention of the setting).
Attached a demo gfx I'm trying to import (not sure if the list allows attachments).

the resolution is: 89.99 pixels/inch. I've selected 90DPI from inkscape settings. That's the image I'm trying to import as a test (the one I exported in the first place).
Am I supposed to use higher resolutions for importing png/jpg graphics?

You only get to choose the resolution when you are exporting an image. If you are importing PNGs into Inkscape, you should be careful that they are of a reasonably high resolution or that the size of your canvas is such that pixelation doesn't happen with your imported PNGs. If you can find the resolution of your PNG, that would be helpful.

@Lucas: No, Blur is set to 0.0
@Zubin: Do you mean the import/export resolution in settings? That is set to the default: 90dpi. The canvas size is the same I used when I started working on this project: 1280x1024
I even export a part of the design, import it, and the same things
looks blurry.

Could have something to do with their original resolution. Have you checked the dimensions of your Inkscape canvas?
