First up, I don't have an answer for you as I don't use eps, and have never succeeded in getting Illustrator to properly export fonts, embedded fonts, or glyphs, so congratulations.
Second, what is your take on the quality of the SVG that Illustrator creates? I spent most of the night swearing at some wrongheaded SVG that Illustrator dumped (over 500 invisible paths, foreign objects galore, etc), and if you've found a way to export a more clean file, I would love to hear about it.
