Thanks guys
I switched to Fedora 7 (upon using it, feels more responsive, alot lighter in terms of useless packages installed), and it works fine now.
I guess it was some obscure or hidden setting in OpenSuSE's GNOME setup
Now I can continue to implement the rest of my open source animation toolkit!

Hmm, I just noticed that, and still upon trying, has no effect (all it did was place ,,,, and ..... whenever I tried)
Can any other Linux Inkscape user confirm if its working? And what changes you made to either it or your window manager (if you had to make any at all?)
Thanks
Ubuntu Feisty, unmodified keybindings, Inkscape 0.45.1 works fine.
