Brynn, the "$ rpm -qa inkscape" in the OP's original post is a Linux command, so the Windows snipping tool probably won't help much ;)

Depending on your desktop environment, there's a good chance that there's a built-in screenshot program that is triggered by pressing the PrtSc (Print Screen) button on your keyboard. Otherwise using The Gimp (File > Create > Screenshot) is a reasonable way to go, but there are plenty of other screenshot tools available if you want to do something more specific. This approach is useful if you need the whole window or desktop in the image (e.g. for writing a tutorial document in which you want the toolbars visible).

If all you want is a bitmap version of your image, Brynn's suggestion to use Export PNG is the best option. I suspect this is what you're really looking for.

If, on the other hand, you just want a bitmap version of a single object or group, you can select the object(s) in your image and use Edit > Make a Bitmap Copy. This is the least common way to convert to a bitmap and tends to only be used for very specific purposes.

If none of these suit, or you require more information, please let us know what you need the "screenshot" for so that we can provide some more specific advice.
